How you communicate is important…

FYI Tutoring Services
- Students need to be over 18 years of age.
- Each teaching class lasts 50 minutes.
- Students can choose one class session or two.
- If a student chooses two classes, there is a break after 50 minutes.
- Students take one or two class per week.
- Classes are scheduled ahead of time. Students keep their own schedule.
- Students meet their SLO English Teacher at a prearranged location (like a student’s workplace, restaurant, park, coffee shop, or other suitable public place).
- Teacher provides instructional materials.
- Students are responsible for their own transportation.

FYI Schedule and Materials, etc.
- Scope of Services: our teaching services are only in the field of English and education (see above). We accept all age levels above 18 years of age. See our educational goals (below).
- Frequency of Services: students (or parent/guardian for students under 18) can schedule classes once per week (or twice per week upon request).
- Registration: Once our brief registration form is completed (a non-binding form), tutoring can be scheduled for an entire year. Students keep track of lessons on their own calendar. For rates and registration info, click here: Rates-Registration
- Instructional materials: a teacher designs lessons tailored to a student’s educational needs based on assessment. For students under 18, our instructional materials align with California state adopted content standards. A teacher may use supplementary material from various sources to address a particular learning objective. See “Study Plan” in this document.
- Following the second lesson (and all other subsequent lessons), students pay the English Teacher Enterprises teacher directly either with USD cash or through PayPal. Payment should be in American dollars.
- Students meet their SLO English Teacher at a prearranged public location (no physical school exists).
- Canceling: A student (or parent/guardian) may cancel a lesson at any time. A student (or parent/guardian) emails a cancelation notice to “SLOEnglishTeacher-at-gmail dot com” in advance of the lesson. No penalty is charged for canceling a lesson. After a cancellation, a student (or parent/guardian for students under 18) may reschedule the lesson for another time.
- If teacher is late by a half-hour, the class is canceled. Conversely, if a student is late by a half-hour, the class is canceled. Naturally, advance notice is appreciated.

FYI Study Plan
- A study plan is developed by the teacher based on the first lesson assessment and student input (and/or parent/guardian input), diagnostic assessment from first lesson and any supplementary information (like school grades, past projects, etc.)
- This plan is used to guide the student and the teacher. The teacher might occasionally give an informal quiz, test, or exercise to check that the study plan is effective. The study plan will change as the student learns the material, or as teacher (or parent) sees a need. Students should notify the instructor if the study plan is incorrect, or they wish to have it changed.

For disabled and/or special needs students: SLO English Teacher Enterprises believes in equity in education. If you are a disabled student or special needs student, please inform SLO English Teacher Enterprises by phone (805-439-0447) or email “SLOEnglishTeacher -at- gmail dot com. Once the details of the disability is discussed, all attempts to provide accommodations will be made. We accept age levels above 18 years of age.
We will consider working with a person’s IEP or LEP. If a disabled student or special needs student (or a parent/guardian) requests English language services from SLO English Teacher Enterprises, the teacher may request that a parent/guardian be present during the lessons. If a parent/guardian of a special needs student does not agree to be present during the lessons, SLO English Teacher Enterprises may cancel the tutoring.
